Oxalates are found in some foods and are produced as a waste product by the body through urine. Too much oxalates may cause kidney stones in some people. Your health care practitioner may ask you follow a low oxalate diet if this is a common occurrence in your health.
Do you consume foods or beverages rich in calcium every day?
For reference, 1 cup of 1% milk contains about 250 milligrams, 1 ounce of cheese contains 200 milligrams, 1/2 cup of tofu contains 200 milligrams, 1/2 cup almonds contains 100 milligrams, and 1 cup of cooked green leafy vegetables contains 100 milligrams. Men and women over the age of 19 years old need between 1,000-1,200+ milligrams of calcium per day.

For reference, the grams of protein for 3.5 ounces of each of the following are listed: turkey breast contains 30 grams, lean beef contains 36 grams, tuna or salmon contains 26 grams, and tofu contains 8 grams.
